2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat: 707 Horsepower!

Published on July 1, 2014 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

When Dodge unveiled the new-for-2015 Challenger, they gave us lots of information. We knew that a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 was on its way, and that it would become the pack leader in the Challenger lineup. However, one critical piece of information was missing: how much power would it make? The only clue we had was a vague ‘’over 600’’. This was done to mystify the competition, and the rumor mill went wild: it made 605 HP, then 630, then 666 (since it’s named the Hellcat). After much teasing, Dodge finally gave us what we all wanted: definitive numbers. And those numbers are impressive: 707 horsepower, and 650 pound-feet of torque!

Compare that to the competition, and things get interesting: the Shelby GT500 is down 40 HP, and the Camaro ZL1 is in a completely different league, with a 127 HP handicap.

If Dodge’s new 707 HP muscle car seems like it might be too much to drive on the streets daily, you can temporarily tone it down. Each Challenger Hellcat comes with two keys: a black one that limits power to a measly 500 HP, and a red one that unleashes the full tire-shredding power at each stab of the accelerator pedal.

The bravest (and richest) among us will be happy to know that the Challenger Hellcat (and other, more regular Challengers, like the SRT, R/T and SXT) will arrive in dealerships before the end of 2014.
