A lot of us were not convinced when Mercedes-Benz announced they would launch a small front-wheel drive car. However, as soon as we had a chance to drive the CLA, we were smitten. Its styling, its size and its engines made sure it was a very interesting offering in its segment, even if some versions were a little on the expensive side.

Now, we can't wait to see the GLA, the compact SUV based on the CLA. To drum up interest, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its pricing!

The least expensive way to get into a GLA would be to choose the front-wheel drive GLA250 model. It is equipped with a 2-litre turbocharged engine pumping out 211 HP, and will start at $32,225. For the 4MATIC all-wheel drive version, you will have to spend $2,000 more.

The high-performance version, known as the GLA 45 AMG, will use the same engine as the base model, albeit tweaked a bit. It now pushes out 360 HP, and can be yours for $49,225. For this rather large sum, you get an all-wheel drive small SUV that can run from 0 to 100 in 4.8 seconds. Not bad!

All GLAs will have a long list of standard equipment, like a 5.8 inch infotainment screen, Harman Kardon sound system, heated seats, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and blind spot monitors.
