The First Lamborghini Huracan To Burn

Published on September 9, 2014 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

It may be hard to believe, but the burned-out pieces of metal that you see in the pictures here used to be a brand-new Lamborghini Huracan. It allegedly burned after an accident, making it the first example of this car to immolate itself. In the high-performance world, this is a big event!

A few days ago, this pile of rubble was a perfectly fine Verde Mantis (green, if your Italian is not up to par) Lamborghini Huracan that was bought by a resident of Hungary. The exact circumstances are not well-known, but it would seem that the supercar went through a security barrier before ending up on its roof in a ditch. The fire started just as the wreck stopped moving.

Amazingly, the driver and his passenger had time to get out of harm's way, but they still went to the hospital to be treated for some minor cuts and bruises.

This is a testament to Lamborghini's safety, but it also shows that cars made mostly out of carbon fibre won't just burn: they actually melt!
