Updates For The Tesla Model S

At the beginning of the week, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, announced that the next upgrade of their car’s software would completely end range anxiety, a common fear among electric vehicle buyers.

We were asking ourselves "what could Tesla come up with? A new battery? An emergency recharge service? A new, novel way to transport electricity over radio waves?"

We received the answer today: The most recent update for the system (6.2) will include two important applications. The first one is Range Assurance. This app always works in the background and communicates with the Supercharger stations around you, calculates the charge remaining in your car’s batteries, and takes into account elevation changes and weather to determine if you can make it to the next recharge station. If not, it will warn you. With this update, it’s pretty much impossible to run out of juice unless you want to.

The other important update is named Trip Planner. It will analyze the destination you entered in the GPS, establish an itinerary which includes the recharge stations along your route, and can recommend ways to reduce charging delays.
