The End Of Top Gear; Jeremy Clarkson Sacked By The BBC

The saga surrounding Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘’fracas’’ just ended; this morning, Tom Hall, director of the BBC, published the results of an investigation that was requested after the incident of a few weeks ago.

As a reminder, on March 10th, the presenter of the popular TV show Top Gear was suspended by the BBC because he was accused of hitting a producer during an altercation after he received a cold meal instead of the steak he ordered.

Following the investigation by Ken MacQuarrie (director for the Scottish branch of the BBC), Mr. Clarkson has been declared guilty and was fired from the English broadcaster. He won’t appear on Top Gear.

While we are deeply saddened by the news, it’s not overly surprising; Jeremy Clarkson has made the headlines a few times over the years because of a variety of scandals. Following the last one (where he allegedly mumbled racist terms during a rehearsal) he was told that the next scandal would be his last.

Top Gear’s future is uncertain. The BBC is ready to prepare the next season, but contracts have yet to be signed with the show’s co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May. They have said that they would follow Clarkson, not wanting to break the unity of their team.
