Ford’s Shelby GT350 Power Output Announced
When Ford’s latest track-focused car, the Shelby GT350, was announced, the manufacturer inundated us with information; we learned that the coupe would feature a flat-plane V8, a six-speed manual gearbox, an adaptive suspension and an aerodynamic body kit designed to turn the relatively tame Mustang into a beast capable of embarrassing exotics worth far more.
An important point was however left unanswered: the total power output of the 5.2 litre engine. All we knew was that it would have more than 500 horsepower.
Ford finally ended the teasing by showing the power curve that a dyno pull produced. In it, we can see that the car will have 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production-based naturally-aspirated Ford engine ever built.
A closer inspection of the dyno sheet also reveals another important number: the V8 redlines at 8250 rpm! This explains the impressive power… and it also makes us even more eager to drive the GT350 on a track.
