A Comeback For The Volkswagen Golf Cabrio?

Published on October 20, 2015 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

According to some of Car and Driver’s anonymous sources, it seems that Volkswagen isn’t ready to leave the convertible market alone; while the Eos will be axed (leaving the convertible Beetle alone in its segment), rumours state that the Golf Cabrio could come back, even though it left in 2002.

That same source states that the Golf Cabrio would probably be sold for less than the Eos, which is a good thing, since it used to start at $43,000!. We should see the first ‘’concepts’’ of the Golf Cabrio next year; don’t expect anything too wild however, because the Cabrio is already sold in Europe, is built on the MQB platform and has already been slightly updated for 2016.

It will be interesting to see the return of the Golf Cabrio. In Europe, the German convertible is available with a variety of engines, transmissions and drivetrains; we are curious to see which ones will find their way into the car.

Who’s in for a Golf R Cabrio?
