The VW Microbus, Next Star Of The CES?

Published on December 11, 2015 in Electric by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

In the past, Volkswagen’s vans were the typical hippie vehicle, with a simple drivetrain, generous interior room and frugal engines. They had a reputation as being "ideal to enjoy the good life."

Today however, it seems as though the technology fans are about to get a taste of the Microbus; we recently learned that Volkswagen was about to launch a concept at the CES (Consumer Electronic Show), and if we are to believe rumours, it could be a modern version of the VW Van.

The idea that a manufacturer could launch a concept at a high-tech show can seem weird, but the CES has been enjoying tremendous popularity in the last years; with all the new technologies now included in a car, it only seems logical that cars and technologies would mix.

It’s possible that the next Microbus would be fully electric and could boast a range between 400 and 500 km.

We will learn more when the show opens its doors, on January 5th.
