Here Is The 2017 Cadillac XT5

Following in the footsteps of the CT6 sedan, the Cadillac XT5 has just been unveiled, replacing the old SRX in the American automaker’s lineup.

What changed compared to the outgoing SRX?

First of all, the XT5 has lost weight, now weighing in at 2,354 kilos (126 kilos less than the SRX). Among the XT5's competitors, the Audi Q5 is 45 kilos heavier, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE is on a different plane of existence with 295 kilos of extra weight.

To propel the XT5, Cadillac chose the 3.6-litre V6 that it recently reworked; we have seen the same engine in the 2016 ATS and CTS. This mill has a gaggle of new technologies, including cylinder deactivation when there is no need for 310 horsepower. There is also a turbocharged 2-litre four-cylinder for the Chinese market. On every model, an eight-speed automatic is standard, and while the base-model version will be front-wheel drive, more expensive models will boast a sophisticated ‘’twin-clutch’’ transfer case that continuously varies the torque sent to the rear and front axles for maximum drivability.

The XT5 has been fully modernized; its exterior styling reminds us of the CT6 and the CTS and ATS sedans, while the cockpit is fitted with high-quality leathers and wood. There will eventually be a Platinum version, which will sit at the top of the range. Size-wise, the XT5 is 5.1 centimetres longer than the SRX.

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 should arrive in the middle of 2016.
