2017 Subaru Forester: Headed to the Rockies for some Fozzy Fun!

Monster success for a small car manufacturer comes but once in a lifetime. In Subaru’s case, they’ve knocked it out of the park twice in the last two decades. First came the Outback, followed very closely by the Forester.

Subaru’s compact crossover has gained quite a following thanks to its proven AWD system, decent looks and the fact that it was one of the first to pave the way for its segment.

When a large portion of annual sales is based on less than a handful of cars, manufacturers do everything they can to keep them fresh as best they can. Despite powertrain options getting on in age, Subaru is making sure that its small utility vehicle is on top of its game when it comes to technology.

For 2017, the Forester gets an updated version of the brand’s optional EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. Standard on higher trims are Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The exterior sports a revised front-end design with updated taillights. A body-colour rear spoiler is available on lower trims while new colours, both inside and out, are on the menu.

Powertrain revisions have improved the 2.5L engine’s fuel economy numbers while the Forester 2.0XT now receives Active Torque Vectoring borrowed from the WRX and WRX STI.

The drive should take us into the Rockies where we’ll likely explore the Fozzy’s on- and off-road abilities. Should be good fun! Oh, and you’re wondering what’s a “Fozzy?” It’s how the Australians refer to the Forester.
