Hennessey Gets on the Case of the Ford Focus RS
Only months after the Ford Focus RS was unveiled, tuners are already scrambling to give the small hatchback more power.
Mountune was the first outfit to come up with upgrades: developing 370 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, this version fully complies with the manufacturer’s warranty.
It’s now Hennessey’s turn to join the fray: soon, the Texas tuner will give a healthy boost to the 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine. According to their website, total output would climb to 405 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque.
To achieve this, Hennessey will add a high-volume air filter, a improved exhaust system, a more efficient intercooler and various optimizations to the turbo. New wheels and grippier tires will help transmit those horses to the ground.
There is a rumour that has been floating around the Internet for a while. It seems as though the Focus RS can’t really handle more than 400 horsepower, as the transmission and centre differential can’t cope with more than that. With the hard work of tuners like Hennessey and Mountune, we’ll soon know if those rumours are true.
