2017 MINI John Cooper Works Clubman revealed ahead of Paris Auto Show

We first drove the current generation of the MINI Clubman almost exactly one year ago, which has grown in size to become the more family-friendly model in the British brand’s lineup.

However, we had to wait until now to see the John Cooper Works version of the Clubman.

No surprise under the hood. The 2017 MINI John Cooper Works Clubman is equipped with a twin-scroll, turbocharged 2.0-litre four that develops 228 hp as well as 258 lb.-ft. of torque from 1450 to 4800 rpm. All-wheel drive is standard, as is a six-speed manual transmission, while an eight-speed automatic is optional. According to MINI, the JCW Clubman will hit 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 238 km/h, no matter what gearbox is chosen.

Included in this high-performance MINI are a sports exhaust system, Brembo brakes, Dynamic Stability Control and 18-inch alloy wheels, while a Dynamic Damper Control suspension and 19-inch wheels are optional. Visually, the JCW Clubman is recognisable by its racier bumpers with oversized air inlets up front, side sills and a rear spoiler.

Inside, sport seats with integrated headrests, covered in Dinamica faux-suede and fabric upholstery are included as standard equipment, as are an anthracite roofliner, a JCW leather-wrapped wheel and stainless steel pedals.

The 2017 MINI John Cooper Works Clubman will be officially presented at the Paris Auto Show next week, and will be on sale in Canada this coming winter.
