Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6: More Power... and More Wheels!

Published on October 5, 2016 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Hennessey currently builds two different vehicles with the VelociRaptor name: an SUV based on Ford's last-gen HD trucks inspired by the long-departed Excursion SUV, and a pickup based on the F-150 with off-road credentials.

Which is all well and good, but they all miss something... Like a third axle.

This is why the Texas tuner is currently working on the VelociRaptor 6x6, a completely mad pickup truck based on the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.

The most obvious change compared to the original vehicle is the third set of wheels, which reminds us of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 6x6. According to Hennessey, the third axle isn't just for show: it is driven by the engine, which makes this a true 6x6, not just a poser's truck!

Under the hood of the VelociRaptor 6x6 sits Ford's EcoBoost V6, still displacing 3.5 litres. However, its stock 450 horsepower wasn't enough for Hennessey, so the VelociRaptor 6x6 now packs 600 hp.

If you want one, be prepared to pay around USD$295,000. This includes the price of a 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, if it can help stomach the bill.
