A More Competitive 2017 Honda CR-V

Honda is launching a new generation of its CR-V compact utility vehicle. Finally, some would say. And we’re going to be driving it this week in the Vancouver area.

At first glance, we notice that this new generation will be heavily influenced by the design cues of the current Civic. Both the exterior and the interior are influenced by the compact car’s styling. However, that’s not the most interesting element of the vehicle.

You see, it’s what will be found under the hood that will be most intriguing. Honda is ditching the naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, replacing it with a small-displacement, turbocharged four, similar to the one in the Civic.

If this transformation is a successful one, the 2017 Honda CR-V could once again rise to the top of its category. However, the Mazda CX-5 will be tough to beat. Stay tuned.
