The Fifth Generation of the Honda CR-V has Arrived

Here is a nice surprise this afternoon: Honda unveiled the next generation of its best-selling SUV, the CR-V. According to the manufacturer, this new vehicle will arrive in dealerships next winter.

This is the fifth generation of the CR-V, which has been sold here since 1995.

Under the new hood, there are now options: the 2.4-litre four-cylinder is back, this time coupled with a CVT automatic gearbox. However, for the first time in the history of the North-American CR-V, a turbocharged mill is now available, displacing 1.5 litres and producing 190 horsepower. As usual, front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.

Inside, there are a few upgrades, like more headroom, a seven-inch touchscreen and, finally, a knob to adjust the volume! After years of complaining about Honda's infotainment system, the manufacturer finally admitted we were right and added a physical button on their system.

Obviously, the 2017 Honda CR-V adds a long list of safety equipment, like the Honda Sensing suite that now comes standard from the EX trim level up.

UPDATE: following the publication of this article, Honda Canada has announced that only the turbocharged, 1.5-litre engine will be offered on the Canadian market.
