2018 Aston Martin Valkyrie: The AM-RB 001 Baptized by Gods

The hypercar that’s being developed in collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies now has a proper name. Not that AM-RB 001 isn’t a name, but it doesn’t evoke any feeling of power, prestige and fear.

Now that we have fully understood that Red Bull is a partner in crime, the production version of the car will be named the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The English automaker is pursuing its obsession with the letter V, after adopting the names Vantage, Virage, Volante, Vulcan and, well, V8.

Exact technical details have yet to be revealed, but the two-seat Valkyrie should be equipped with a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated V12 engine. The car will be built on a lightweight architecture and the automaker expects to achieve a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. In other words, one horsepower per kilogram.

The 2018 Aston Martin Valkyrie will be built in the company’s factory in Gaydon, England. Total production will reach between 99 and 150 units, which includes 25 track-only versions of the hypercar. Deliveries should begin in 2018, and as they say, if we have to ask how much it costs, it might not be in our budget range.
