2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS: the Most Powerful!

During a debate about the exotic supercars of our wildest dreams, it’s tough not to include the Porsche 911, a symbol of performance and handling for more than 50 years. Since money is no object, why not go all the way and get the most powerful, the fastest and the most expensive of them all, the 2018 911 GT2 RS.

A street-legal race car in its own right, the GT2 RS is equipped with a 3.8-litre, horizontally opposed, six-cylinder engine on which the automaker grafted two turbochargers with variable-geometry turbines. This marvel develops no less than 700 horsepower as well as a staggering 553 pound-feet of torque that peaks at just 2500 rpm.

With a quick-shifting, dual-clutch, seven-speed automated gearbox, the GT2 RS can blast from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Zero to 200 km/h? Ours in 8.3 seconds. Zero to 300 km/h? A done deal in 22.1 seconds. Top speed is rated at 338 km/h—on a track, of course.

To boast such exhilarating performance, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS relies on weight reduction, thanks to the use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic for the front fenders, mirror caps and rear-fender air ducts, among other things. In addition, the front trunk cover is made of carbon fibre, while forged magnesium wheels that are part of the optional Weissach package reduce unsprung weight by 25 kg. The cockpit gets sport seats with carbon fibre headrest supports, and is dressed up in black leather and red Alcantara. The rear seats have been removed in favour of a safety cage.

The 911 GT2 RS costs $334,000 in Canada, or just under $370,000 with the must-have Weissach package. At that price, we get the most visceral 911 ever built.
