2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid: Now Available in Canada

The new generation of the Cayenne is now available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and in Canada, it retails for $91,700 before freight and delivery charges. As before, it will rival the BMW X5 xDrive40e, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 550e and the Volvo XC90 T8.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid’s powertrain consists of a turbocharged, 3.0-litre V6, an electric motor and a 14.1-kWh battery pack, good for a combined output of 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. According to the automaker, this “green” midsize SUV will blast from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 253 km/h. It can also travel at up to 135 km/h on battery power alone, and provides an EV driving range of up to 44 km according to the NEDC European cycle. The Natural Resources Canada procedures are stricter, so theoretically, the Cayenne sold on our market will get a lower driving range, which we estimate at 35 km. On a 240-volt charger, the battery can be filled up in less than eight hours.

In comparison, the plug-in hybrid variant of the previous-gen Cayenne carried a 10.1-kWh battery, boasted an output of 416 horsepower and provided an EV driving range of up to 23 km. The new Cayenne is faster, more efficient and can travel a longer distance without the help of the combustion engine.

In addition, the 2019 Cayenne is now available with features such as massaging front seats, head-up display and 22-inch wheels.
