Bugatti Divo: a Future (and Very Rare) Track Beast

Supercar manufacturer Bugatti has just announced the creation of an all-new model, of which only 40 units will be produced for worldwide consumption. This car will be called the Divo, and according to its manufacturer, it will be a track beast, unlike the Bugatti Chiron that’s more of an acceleration and top-speed champ.

The name of the new car pays tribute to Albert Divo, a French race car driver that won the Targa Florio race twice behind the wheel of a Bugatti. That was in 1928 and 1929.

The company promises reduced weight, improved agility, more downforce and higher g forces, allowing for what should be amazing handling characteristics. Bugatti hasn’t pointed out which car it’s comparing the Divo to, but we’re assuming it’s the Chiron. Weighing in at 1995 kilograms (4398 lbs.), the latter certainly isn’t a featherweight.

A new, distinctive design has also been announced, so we can believe the automaker isn’t simply preparing a new version of the Chiron, but a new model altogether. However, both cars could be built on the same architecture. Or not, as we’re purely speculating right now. What has been confirmed is the car’s projected price: five million euros, or roughly 7.7 million Canadian dollars.

For now, no pictures, no specifications or performance numbers. We’ll have to wait until August 24, when the Bugatti Divo will be unveiled at an event called “The Quail – a Motorsports Gathering” that will be held in Carmel, California.

President Stephan Winkelmann stated: “with the Divo, we want to thrill people throughout the world.” No, really?
