2019 Mazda CX-5: Signature Edition and Turbo Engine

Published on November 9, 2018 in News by Michel Deslauriers

The 2019 edition of the compact CX-5 crossover will gain a new top-level Signature trim, just like the Mazda6 and Mazda CX-9, which will benefit from some extra firepower.

The CX-5 Signature’s cockpit is furnished with higher-quality materials such as Cocoa Brown Nappa leather seating and Abachi wood trim. The Signature also gets a 7.0-inch driver instrument display, heated and ventilated front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker Bose stereo, head-up display et power-folding outside mirrors, among other things.

Under the hood, the CX-5 Signature will boast the company’s turbocharged SKYACTIV-2.5T four, which develops 227 horsepower with regular fuel and 250 hp with super unleaded. A revised version of Mazda’s driving dynamics software, called G-Vectoring Control Plus, is also on board.

No word yet on the CX-5’s other trim levels, which should continue to use the naturally aspirated SKYACTIV-G engines. The 2.0-litre four matched to a six-speed manual transmission produces 156 hp, while the 2.5-litre four in all other trims except the Signature generates 187 horsepower. In addition, we’re still waiting for the diesel engine Mazda promised when the CX-5 was redesigned for the 2017 model year.

Pricing for the 2019 Mazda CX-5 will be announced at a later date.
