2020 Hyundai Palisade Makes Canadian Premiere in Toronto

Hyundai’s new midsize, three-row crossover is soon arriving in Canada, and has just made its first official appearance in the country at the Toronto Auto Show.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade replaces the Santa Fe XL in the brand’s lineup, and is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 that develops 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A front-wheel drivetrain will be available in Canada, likely on the base trim level, while all-wheel drive will be included in upscale variants.

The new Palisade will battle likes of the Ford Explorer, the Honda Pilot, the Toyota Highlander and the Nissan Pathfinder, among many others, in the midsize SUV segment. However, Hyundai seeks to attract buyers with an upscale cabin and a somewhat unique exterior design.

The SUV’s cabin can carry up to eight passengers, and it will be filled with available features such as an intercom system so front-seat occupants can converse with rear passengers, a 360-degree camera system and an infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen—although a 10-inch display is optional.

This new utility vehicle will be on sale this summer. In the meantime, check out The Car Guide’s first drive of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade.
