Pagani’s New Huayra Roadster BC Tops $4 Million

Seven-figure cars are an extremely rare breed, so anytime a new one comes around is a special occasion. Following its virtual debut in the mobile racing video game CSR2, the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC can now be seen in full production form.

We can tell you right away just how exclusive this supercar is: Only 40 units will be produced and sold at about $4.5 million apiece. And there are several reasons that justify this astronomical price.

At 2,756 pounds, the Huayra Roadster BC is much lighter than the regular Huayra coupe (2,976 pounds) and Huayra Roadster (2,922 pounds), though understandably heavier than the Huayra BC coupe (2,685 pounds). It uses a mix of carbon and titanium for the body structure and frame.

The twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG has been customized to the point where Pagani calls it "completely new." It generates 791 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 774 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm, which is more than the Huayra BC coupe’s 750 horsepower and 738 pound-feet.

A seven-speed XTrac transverse automatic transmission with an electro-mechanical differential sends all that brute force to the rear wheels. And we imagine you can hear it from a ridiculously far distance thanks to the new titanium exhaust system with six tailpipes (including two from the catalytic converters).

In addition to being lighter and more powerful, the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC benefits from improved aerodynamics in the form of redesigned air intakes and rear wing (the latter contributing to 1,102 pounds of downforce at 280 km/h), plus a new aerodynamics kit. It rides on an advanced suspension system featuring forged aluminum alloy independent double wishbones, helical springs and electronically controlled shocks. The 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloy wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires that help the car handle as much as 2.2 g of lateral force.

The articulation of the front hood and rear shell is quite a spectacle, as you can see in the pictures. Inside, BC logos, uniquely designed sport seats and other exclusive design touches add to the otherworldly nature of the Huayra Roadster BC.

The car will make its first public showing at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later this month.
