Back in June, Kia unveiled the Seltos, a new subcompact crossover aimed at global markets. However, the company had yet to decide whether or not this model would be sold in Canada.

Good news: while attending the media launch of the 2020 Kia Forte5, we learned that the Seltos is indeed coming to our shores.

Sharing its platform with the Hyundai Kona, Kia’s newest product will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as standard. A turbocharged 1.6-litre unit will be available for superior performance. All-wheel drive will also be offered.

Unlike the Kona, the Seltos adopts more angular forms reminiscent of Kia’s other products, such as the Telluride. The Korean brand also integrated a lot of on-board technology, notably regarding advanced driving aids. An infotainment system with a large 10.25 screen is also available.

When the Seltos arrives in Canada early next year, it will join the Niro, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride in Kia’s growing portfolio of utility vehicles. Pricing has not yet been announced, but we can expect it to be similar to the Kona’s which starts at $21,199.
