How (Not) to Move Furniture with a Corvette

Published on September 25, 2019 in Buzz by Guillaume Rivard

The Chevrolet Corvette is a living legend revered by many. Most owners take extremely good care of it and don’t spend too much time on the road. Some take it to the track and have a blast, while others enjoy making various modifications and turning heads at car shows.

In the “Don’t try this at home” category, there’s a guy from the Denver area (dropout_c7 on Instagram) that seems to get a kick out of doing all sorts of shenanigans with his C7 Corvette—which he had painted to look like Flash McQueen from the Cars movie trilogy.

Beyond his obsession with watermelons (he put one over his shifter and also likes to smash a bunch of them with his car… or a gun), we were intrigued by his attempt to transport a couch on the top.

Clearly, this fellow couldn’t wait for Chevrolet to launch an SUV variant of the Corvette. Or he just wanted to draw even more attention to himself.

As we can see on the pictures, he removed the roof panel and stuck the giant piece of furniture between the windshield frame and the rear panel before securing it somehow and hitting the road. On the same Instagram account, there are a few clips of him driving around at speed to prove it.

Corvette purists might be offended by this silly treatment to America’s most iconic sports car. Others will bemoan the man’s recklessness and sheer lack of judgment.

One thing is for sure, though: even with a fairly generous trunk (425 litres), Corvette owners need to be creative sometimes!
