The all-new 2021 Kia Seltos made its North American debut on Wednesday at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. That’s right: another small SUV is about to hit the market!

The Seltos becomes Kia’s new entry-level SUV, positioned below the Niro, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride.

Both the platform and powertrains are shared with the Hyundai Kona. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre unit rated at 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. It teams up with a continuously variable transmission. Optionally, the Kia Seltos offers a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine producing 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Inside, look for an available 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless charging, three USB ports and an eight-speaker Bose stereo.

A host of safety and driver assistance systems are also part of the lineup.

The 2021 Kia Seltos is set to go on sale in the U.S. early next year with five trim levels to choose from: LX, EX, S 2.0L, S 1.6T and SX. Some of them are available with all-wheel drive.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as Canadian specifications and pricing are released.
