2021 Chevrolet Equinox Gets Mid-cycle Update with RS Trim
UPDATE (04/14/2020)--Due to COVID-19, Chevrolet has postponed changes to the Equinox until the 2022 model year. Below is the original article.
The Chevrolet Equinox might be one of the least popular compact SUVs on the market, but it remains a very important product for General Motors. In fact, it’s the second best-selling GM vehicle behind the Silverado/Sierra full-size pickups.

The current generation was introduced for the 2018 model year, so it’s time for the Equinox to receive a mid-cycle update.
What does the 2021 version have in store? For starters, it features revised front and rear fascias including a more aggressive-looking grille and new LED headlights.
Similar to the Chevrolet Blazer and Traverse, the Equinox also adds a sporty new RS trim to the lineup. Essentially replacing the Midnight Edition, this one boasts a dark finish on the grille, 19-inch wheels, roof rails and badges. Inside, red stitching contrasts with the all-black upholstery and drivers get an RS-style shifter.
Meanwhile, the high-end Premier model receives a gloss black grille with chrome inserts, a rear liftgate with Chevrolet logo projection, high gloss black finish on the centre stack and French stitching on leather surfaces.
The turbocharged 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre engines (170 and 252 horsepower, respectively) are back with no changes along with six-speed and nine-speed automatic transmissions. If you remember, the 1.6-litre turbo-diesel was dropped for 2020.
Look for the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox to arrive at Canadian dealerships this fall. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
