Watch: 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Races a Porsche 911 GT3 RS
We hope you’ve read the entire first-drive review of the all-new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette by our award-winning contributor Marc Lachapelle. If not, click on the link above and check out everything he had to say about the mid-engine, eight-generation (C8) model.
As you know, production started on February 3 and deliveries to customers began a short while ago. Some of them wasted no time shooting their first few lapping sessions and today we chose to present you a video posted by YouTube user Speed Phenom.

You’ll see a great battle between the new Corvette and another renowned sports car with the engine mounted behind the cockpit, namely the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
The action takes place at the Willow Springs Raceway in California. It’s all for fun and not a true head-to-head race where the cars are pushed to their absolute limits. Still, we quite enjoyed watching this video.
On one hand, we have a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette equipped the Z51 package, which includes a stiffer suspension, Brembo brakes, a performance exhaust and a unique rear spoiler and front splitter. The 6.2-litre V8 engine produces 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. In the video, we learn that the car is also prepped with Chevrolet's recommended track alignment to help reduce tire wear and understeer.
On the other hand, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS boasts a 4.0-litre flat-six engine generating 520 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. At $213,400 CAD, it’s about triple the price of its American rival ($73,798 for a Corvette 1LT Z51). Pretty mind-boggling, isn’t it?
Now, imagine what the next Corvette Z06 will be like!
