Genesis G70 Receives Major Facelift for 2022
Introduced in 2017, the Genesis G70 is getting a serious update for the 2022 model year.
Aesthetically, the brand’s entry-level car—which shares its platform with the Kia Stinger—takes a page from recent Genesis products. The signature quad lamps and massive, diamond-shaped grille are similar to those on the new G80 and G90 sedans as well as the GV80 midsize SUV.
The design and placement of the taillights follow the same approach. Meanwhile, the side air vents have been optimized for greater efficiency, Genesis claims.
The interior of the 2022 G70 will feature a new 10.25-inch infotainment system with an exclusive Genesis user interface design supporting the latest over-the-air updates and a valet mode. In addition, the wireless charging system has been changed to a horizontal layout.
What about performance? The G70’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 engines remain in the lineup. All models benefit from the newly added “Sport+” drive mode, which further optimizes engine and transmission programming.
In addition, the 3.3-litre V6 with Sport package benefits from the addition of a Variable Exhaust Valve System, which gives the car a more aggressive exhaust signature, and a new Dynamic AWD System offers a built-in drift mode.
In Canada, the G70 comes standard with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The new 2022 Genesis G70 will reach Canadian shores sometime in 2021. Pricing ranges from $45,000-$61,000.
