Bugatti Set to be Sold by Volkswagen to Rimac
Bugatti, one of the world’s most prestigious automakers, is reportedly on the verge of being sold to Croatian builder Rimac.
Currently owned by Volkswagen AG, the French supercar company will become the property of entrepreneur Mate Rimac, Manager Magazine said on Thursday citing people familiar with the talks.

Reuters and several other media outlets have also spread the news. So far, though, neither Volkswagen nor Rimac has made a public statement.
Founded in 1909 by French-Italian engineer Ettore Bugatti, the Bugatti brand enjoyed a renaissance during the 1980s before being purchased by Volkswagen in 1998. It’s by far the most prestigious member of the VW family, which also includes Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche and Bentley.
Meanwhile, Rimac is a small exotic car manufacturer based in Croatia. It is a full century younger than Bugatti and famous for developing electric powertrains. Rimac’s first car, called Concept 1, was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. Then came the Concept S and the C_Two.
