Detroit Auto Show Pushed to September 2021
After cancelling the 2020 edition due to COVID-19, the organizers of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit announced they are moving the event to a later date next year.
Originally planned for June 2021 (after being held for decades in January), the Motor City classic will run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 9, 2021.

This comes a couple of weeks after the Los Angeles Auto Show was postponed from November 2020 to May 2021.
“We have talked with many of our partners, particularly the OEMs, and they are fully on board and excited about the date change,” NAIAS Executive Director Rod Alberts said.
Early fall will in fact become the new home for the NAIAS in the auto show season going forward. Show dates have already been secured with the TCF Center for the next three years.
The organizers said they wanted to “alleviate the challenges a now crowded spring auto show calendar presents for auto show stakeholders.” Obviously, with Detroit being the last of the three major U.S. shows, the number of big reveals would have been significantly reduced.
On the other hand, the NAIAS will take place just after the Munich (formerly Frankfurt) and Paris auto shows, which alternate years and welcome visitors in early and mid-September.
The 2021 NAIAS show dates are:
