The same day Dodge is opening orders for the all-new, 710-horsepower Durango Hellcat priced at $114,345, another FCA announcement caught our attention and inevitably performance and tuning enthusiasts will also take note.

Via the automaker’s Mopar division, we’ve just learned the 807-horsepower version of the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 is now available as a crate engine known as “Hellcrate Redeye.” Anyone wishing to give their car a wicked boost can consider this option, which is specifically intended for pre-1976 street and off-road vehicles due to certification and emissions rules.

Also producing 717 pound-feet of torque, the engine initially debuted in the record-setting 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon before making its way into the 797-horsepower SRT Hellcat Redeye version of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, plus the new 807-horsepower 2021 Challenger SRT Super Stock pictured below.

Compared to the standard Hellcrate engine, the Hellcrate Redeye boasts a number of enhancements and upgraded components, notably:

Each engine is dyno-tested for 42 minutes before being shipped. The complete engine assembly includes a supercharger with throttle body, fuel injectors, coil packs, water pump, front sump oil pan and flexplate. Builders who prefer a manual transmission can purchase the necessary hardware, too.

So, how much does this 807-horsepower Hellcrate Redeye cost? Canadian pricing is listed at $27,010. You can order it starting today though your local Dodge dealer.

By the way, as many of you know, it’s not the most powerful crate engine in the Dodge/Mopar lineup. The 7.0-litre “Hellephant” V8, which produces 1,000 horsepower and 950 pound-feet of torque, can be yours for $42,035.
