More Carbon is a Good Thing With the 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Mustang Week continues ahead of the legendary pony car’s 57th anniversary on Saturday. The Blue Oval today made an announcement that will please customers of the almighty 760-horspower Mustang Shelby GT500.

Ford Performance is launching four new aftermarket carbon fibre components to give the car even more style. It’s the first time such accessories are available since the introduction of the latest-generation Shelby GT500 last year.

It starts with a full-width front splitter with belly pan for placement at the car’s lower, forward-leading edge and under section. The “SHELBY” name in block letters is moulded into the splitter.

Next, there’s a front bumper insert that fits between the upper and lower grille intakes. This one is branded with a “GT500” signature.

Let’s keep moving up. A carbon fibre hood vent and rain tray kit replaces the ABS plastic vent fitted as standard. It looks awesome.

Finally, a rear decklid trim panel fits between the taillights and sports a Shelby snake badge.

These carbon fibre elements not only provide further customization, but they also make the Mustang Shelby GT500 lighter. Granted, the difference in the end is negligible. It’s worth pointing out that the carbon fibre hood vent and rain tray kit is half the weight of the corresponding stock unit.

All four components can be ordered today at performanceparts.ford.com.

Meanwhile, Ford continues to offer a Carbon Fibre Handling Package ($13,500) and Carbon Fibre Track Package ($30,000) highlighted by 20-inch wheels and a rear wing. The 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 starts at $95,675.
