Tesla Cybertruck Reportedly Has Over One Million Reservations
Unveiled in November 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has now generated more than one million reservations based on a crowdsourced tracker posted online. At about the same time last year, the number of reservations stood at a little over 600,000.
Most of them are for dual- or triple-motor variants, which are more powerful and offer longer range (up to 800 kilometres). The base, single-motor model with RWD represents just 7.5 percent of reservations despite a pretty attractive price.

Drive Tesla Canada first reported the news. The tracker depends on self-reported reservations and does not provide official or exact numbers, but it does show that interest in the futuristic pickup keeps growing.
Tesla requires a fully refundable deposit of $100 in the U.S. and $150 in Canada for the Cybertruck.
Obviously, these reservations won’t all turn into sales. Some Tesla buyers have admitted to reserving many (even hundreds) of units to secure a slot in line and will cancel them once Tesla confirms their order.
And then there are Tesla fans who jumped on the bandwagon in the minutes and days following the reveal but will change their mind at some point, either because they simply no longer want a Cybertruck or because there are attractive new competitors such as the GMC Hummer EV and Ford F-150 Lightning.
The Tesla Cybertruck will be built at a new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. CEO Elon Musk recently said that a start of production before the end of 2021 is still possible, but we wouldn’t bet on that.
Unsurprisingly, the first units to roll off the line will feature dual or triple motors. In case you’re wondering, Canadian pricing has yet to be announced.
