It’s Now Time to Pre-order Your 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5

The all-new 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 compact crossover, one of the most anticipated electric vehicles of the year, is finally available to pre-order.

Limited quantities will be available at Hyundai Canada dealerships—at least in the first year and possibly beyond—making reservations a must.

“Since the IONIQ 5 was revealed earlier this year, it’s the vehicle our dealers, existing customers and new fans of the Hyundai brand are most eager to experience, and we can see why,” says Don Romano, president and CEO of Hyundai Canada. “IONIQ 5 offers progressive design, the versatility, space and capability of a utility vehicle, with the low cost of ownership and driving pleasure one can only achieve from driving fully-electric.”

Pricing for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 has yet to be announced, mind you. This will come closer to the vehicle’s official start of sales in the fall. Will it have a base MSRP under $45,000 to benefit from the federal EV rebate of $5,000? Great question.

Five Trim Levels

As a reminder, the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is available with two battery pack options—58 kWh or 77.4 kWh—and two drivetrain configurations—with a rear motor only (RWD) or with both front and rear motors (AWD). Output is either 225 or 320 horsepower, while torque is rated at 258 or 446 pound-feet. Estimated range goes as follows:

The Ultimate Package adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display with augmented reality, remote parking assist, highway driving assist, two-way onboard charger (allowing customers to power devices or even charge another EV), and more.

Six body colours are available and they’re all pretty tame. Inside, you can have either cloth or leather seating surfaces in black or two tones of grey.

The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 will face competition from the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4 and Tesla Model Y, not to mention future electric SUVs from Nissan, Kia, Toyota and Subaru coming next year.
