Nearly All Porsche Taycans in Canada Recalled for Loss of Power
We now know the Canadian extent of Porsche’s recent safety recall on more than 43,000 Taycan electric sedans globally.
According to the recall notice posted on the Transport Canada website, 1,158 Porsche Taycans from the 2020-2021 model years are affected, which is nearly all the units that have been sold in the country since the car’s launch (1,289 as of July 1, 2021).

So, what’s the problem? In some cases, a software error could cause a sudden and unexpected loss of power. If this happens, drivers will see a warning message "Motor control error. Stop vehicle in a safe place” on the vehicle display, but only after power is interrupted. They can then restart the car by pushing the On/Off button, but it’s possible the problem will happen again.
Porsche says owners need to bring their Taycan to a dealer to reprogram the power electronics and the electronic control unit. Apparently, it’s not the type of fix that can be done remotely through an over-the-air update.
