Redesigned 2023 Toyota Sequoia is Coming at Last
The third-generation Toyota Sequoia is coming, and it was about damn time. The current truck dates back to the 2008 model year, remember, and it looks awfully strange in Toyota’s SUV lineup. Same thing for the 4Runner, in fact.
The automaker today shared a teaser of the fully redesigned 2023 Sequoia, and even though it offers just a partial view of the vehicle from the rear three-quarter angle, we can see that the design is much sharper and more refined, with thin LED taillights being one example.

Once again, expect a lot of similarities between the full-size Sequoia and the Tundra pickup, the latter fresh from a complete overhaul. Along with the next-gen Land Cruiser, both models ride on Toyota’s new TNGA-F chassis. Unlike the 2022 Tundra, which retains a solid rear axle (combined with new coil springs), the 2023 Sequoia will continue to benefit from an independent rear suspension.
Under the hood, the 5.7-litre V8 engine will be replaced by the same twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 that now powers the Tundra. It remains to be seen whether a hybrid variant will be available in the Sequoia, too. Should that be the case, look for output to range from 389-437 horsepower and peak torque from 479-583 pound-feet.
As for the interior, you can count on a digital gauge cluster and 14-inch centre touchscreen powered by Toyota’s new multimedia system.
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be officially revealed on Jan. 25 and sales will begin before the end of the year. The Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition will have to ward off a much more dangerous threat from Japan.
