Maserati to Become Full EV Brand by 2030
Italian luxury car brand Maserati announced this week it will introduce three electric models in 2023 and offer a battery-powered variant for each model it sells by 2025. And when this decade is over, no more Maseratis will house an internal combustion engine.
“Folgore” (an Italian word for lightning) will designate the new EVs, starting with an all-electric GranTurismo coupe and GranCabrio convertible. Maserati’s upcoming Grecale compact SUV will also be available as an EV.

Hold on tight because the company is promising a GranTurismo Folgore with "way over 1,200 horsepower," 0-100 km/h sprints in two seconds like the Rimac Nevera and Tesla Model S Plaid, as well as a top speed of over 300 km/h.
The Levante midsize SUV, which is Maserati’s best-seller, the Quattroporte midsize sedan and the MC20 supercar will get their zero-emission variant by mid-decade, too. Specifications including battery capacity and range will be announced later.
Maserati said these vehicles “will offer cutting-edge technical solutions derived from Formula E, superb performance, comfort and elegance, all typical of the Trident.”
Interestingly, the firm's global head of product planning, Francesco Tonon, said the engineering team has spent 18 months designing a “truly iconic, unique” sound for Maserati EVs.
There’s bad news for the Ghibli compact sedan, however. Despite spearheading the brand’s electrification efforts with a hybrid variant a couple of years ago, this model will be dropped in the near future as Maserati plans to move upmarket.
