General Motors celebrated on Monday the start of retail production of the upcoming, all-electric 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Similar to the GMC Hummer EV, the LYRIQ uses GM’s Ultium battery technology which the automaker jointly developed with LG Chem. The 100kWh pack gives the vehicle an estimated range of up to 480 kilometres. Output is rated at 340 horsepower along with 325 pound-feet of torque.

“This is a monumental day for the entire GM team,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “We retooled Spring Hill Assembly with the best, most advanced technology in the world and the team worked tirelessly to complete the preparations nine months ahead of the original schedule.”

The LYRIQ also features a 33-inch curved display, 19-speaker AKG Acoustics sound system as well as Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving assistance.

Remember, Canadian pricing starts at $69,898 including $2,200 freight and PDI. No EV incentives apply, here. Reservations for the Debut Edition sold out in just over 10 minutes last summer, but Cadillac will begin taking additional orders for the 2023 LYRIQ on May 19.
