Dodge Adds 807-Horsepower Charger King Daytona
While most of the automotive press is focused on the 2022 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Dodge today unveiled the fifth of seven special-edition models marking the end of the Charger and Challenger in their current form.
Following the Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, Challenger Scat Pack Swinger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger, meet the new 2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona. Instead of 1,000 units like the others, this one will be limited to just 300 units (the company won’t say how many are planned for Canada).

The name is a tribute to a famous monarch of the 1960s and 1970s West Coast drag-racing scene, William “Big Willie” Robinson, who nicknamed his 1969 Dodge Charger “King Daytona” and used it to claim victory at the drag strip.
The special edition is based on the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, though Dodge increased the supercharged 6.2-litre V8’s output from 797 horsepower to 807 horsepower.
The attention-grabbing Go Mango body and orange-painted Brembo brake callipers are complemented by a black rear spoiler and large black stripe with “King Daytona” graphic on the trunk. Additional black graphics can be found on the hood and roof, while satin chrome badges match the 20-by-11-inch satin carbon Warp Speed wheels.
Inside, no one will be surprised to see orange stitching not only on the black Nappa leather and Alcantara seats, but also on the dashboard (complete with a “King Daytona” badge), centre console, door panels and steering wheel. The latter is trimmed in suede just like the headliner.
Other notable features include a Harman Kardon premium sound system, power sunroof and Navigation Package. In case you’re wondering about pricing and ordering, details will be shared later this fall.
One more special edition of either the Charger or the Challenger will be announced on September 21. The seventh and final 2023 Dodge model—the very last of its kind—will be revealed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for November 1-4, 2022.
