Louis-Philippe Dubé and Gabriel Gélinas share their driving impressions on the 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar and 2023 Rolls Royce Ghost on the latest episode of The Car Guide Podcast.

The Porsche 911 Dakar is a unique, rugged off-road variant of Porsche's iconic sports car. It is based on the competition-inspired GTS version, so it gets its motivation from the same turbo flat-six engine dishing out 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels.

The 911 Dakar sports unique features like body cladding, protective plates underneath the chassis and tow hooks. It is also higher than the GTS by 30mm, a height that can be adjusted up to 80mm depending on the driving mode the driver chooses. Speaking of modes, the 911 Dakar has two additional modes that you won't find in any other 911: Off-Road and Rallye.

LP points out that the 911 Dakar is impressively stable and agile on the road. In the sand, it can put some 4x4's to shame (to a certain degree) thanks to its attack and departure angles. The 911 Dakar is offered in extremely limited numbers, 2,500 units in total for model years 2023 and 2024 to be exact. For his part, Gab drove the new 2023 Rolls-Royce Ghost in the particularly snowy conditions of Quebec's Laurentians. Gab underlines that the now AWD-equipped Ghost makes a better winter car that it used to be. He also notes that the Ghost is probably the most silent V12-powered vehicle on the face of the Earth. The cloudlike ride makes it a proper cruiser that can anticipate road conditions like no other.
