Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition to Make Canadian Debut in Montreal

Published on March 24, 2023 in News by The Car Guide

SUVs and crossovers dominate the electric vehicle market, but a few years from now customers will be able to order an electric roadster, too.

Remember the Polestar O2 concept from March 2022? It will go into production in 2026 as the Polestar 6, the Swedish automaker confirmed last year while announcing the LA Concept Edition. The latter is what visitors at the upcoming Montreal Electric Vehicle Show will get to see in a Canadian premiere.

Riding on the same aluminum architecture as the Precept concept (which will morph into the Polestar 5 next year), the sporty Polestar 6 was penned by Maximilian Missoni and his team. The fairly long wheelbase accommodates a larger-capacity battery and two small rear seats.

The retractable hardtop opens in just a few seconds. The concept even has a drone over the tonneau cover that can shoot the car autonomously at speeds up to 90 km/h, and the videos can later be watched on the 15-inch centre display. Don’t expect this feature to make it to production, however.

The Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition will be limited to 500 units globally, all of them painted in a unique Sky Blue body colour and featuring custom-designed 21-inch wheels. Every build slot was reserved in less than a week (the price of the final car is projected to be around $200,000). Don’t worry, the company will build other Polestar 6 models after this run.

With its two electric motors, the Polestar 6 will output 872 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque, accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. An 800V electric platform will enable ultra-fast charging.

Polestar 2 BST Edition 270

Before it became a standalone EV brand, Polestar operated as a Volvo tuning specialist. In a return to those days, the Polestar 2 is available in an exclusive package—the BST Edition 270.

While the dual-motor powertrain is unchanged at 469 horsepower and 502 lb-ft. of torque, the chassis is lowered by 25 mm, specially developed Öhlins adjustable dampers are included along with 20-percent stiffer springs, and 21-inch wheels are mounted on Pirelli P Zero tires in a size of 245/35R21. Let’s not forget the four-piston Brembo brake calipers.

As the name implies, only 270 units will be made and split between Europe, China and North America, with possibly up to 20 headed to Canada.

Similar to the Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition, the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 will be on display at the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (April 21-23) inside the Olympic Stadium. The event will feature over 50 different EV and PHEV models representing 22 car brands.
