2024 Acura Integra Type S is Finally Here and We’re Stoked

Acura has just unveiled the new 2024 Integra Type S and confirmed that it will go on sale as early as June.

This high-performance and much more explosive variant of the entry-level luxury hatchback borrows its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine from the Honda Civic Type R but adds 5 horsepower for a total of 320 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. It’s an increase of 120 horsepower from the 1.5-litre engine that motivates every other Integra. Peak torque, meanwhile, is 310 lb-ft. accessible from 2,600-4,000 rpm.

A close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential will help drivers make good use of the available power, which is once again delivered solely to the front axle. Acura’s SH-AWD all-wheel drive system is not available. By the way, the company has not provided acceleration times, but look for 0-100 km/h sprints to be achieved in about 5.7 seconds.

“The all-new 2023 Integra is the North American Car of the Year, and the new 2024 Type S comes with even greater enhancements making the driving experience more exhilarating without compromising comfort and refinement,” said James Marchand, Assistant Vice President at Acura Canada.

He was referring to upgrades like a performance-tuned adaptive damper system, four-piston Brembo front brakes with 350mm discs, lightweight 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and of course the centre-mounted triple exhaust. Thanks to an active exhaust valve, Acura promises a distinct auditory experience in each drive mode.

From a dynamic standpoint, the Integra Type S benefits massively from wider tracks (+88.9 mm up front and +48.2 mm in the rear), as well as a dual-axis front suspension design that reduces torque steer. A thicker front stabilizer bar further improves response.

Now, let’s talk about styling. You can easily distinguish the Integra Type S with its more muscular fenders that add 71 mm of width to the body, plus larger front air intakes and a new hood scoop that together improve airflow by 170 percent for maximum cooling efficiency. The rear spoiler and diffuser are also unique to this model, not to mention the new Tiger Eye Pearl (white) body colour.

Optionally, customers will be able to select from a long list of Genuine Acura Accessories, including a carbon fibre rear lip spoiler and mirror caps, black illuminated front Acura badge, copper metallic finished 19-inch wheels and an Integra Type R-inspired titanium shift knob. That’s pretty cool.

Inside, sport seats with perforated Ultrasuede inserts and firmer seat bolsters are the main highlight. Other exclusive touches can be found, such as the graphics and menus on the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and 9-inch centre touchscreen. One last thing: music lovers are sure to enjoy the standard ELS STUDIO 3D premium sound system with 16 speakers and 530W of power.
