Subaru Impreza XV : The family compact crossover

Published on February 24, 2010 in Geneva by Gilles Olivier

In Geneva next week, Japanese manufacturer Subaru will present an all new series of it’s Impreza line of vehicles under the name of Impreza XV.

This vehicle is a crossover compact based on the five door Impreza hatchback model. Certain aesthetic stylistic devices will give it the look of a “fighter”.

This newcomer will be slightly larger in dimension than previous models:

Length:             from 4415 to 4430 mm
Wheelbase :     from 2620 to 2650 mm
Width :             from 1740 to 1770 mm
Height :            from 1475 to 1520 mm

Aesthetically, the Impreza XV will be equipped with an exclusive grille, with more elaborate wheel arch protectors, with a higher roof topped with a roof rack and a more visible deflector.

The Subaru Impreza XV will be commercialized in Europe as of this year and will benefit from Boxer four cylinder engines, already available on existing line models. Incidentally, there is a Subaru 2,0 litre engine, either atmospheric or diesel, being used in Europe, which is extremely popular...

American commercialization

It is too soon to tell if this new model will be offered in America. But, to this day, we know that the vast majority of new Subaru vehicles presented in Europe end up on North American soil at the latest the following year.

The Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept

This superb concept vehicle with a novel hybrid engine had it’s world première at the Tokyo show last October.

Two months later was it’s introduction in North America, at the Detroit auto show.

And now, it makes a long awaited debut in Europe, at the Geneva International Motor Show, held this March.
