2024 Ford Mustang’s Remote Rev Feature is Exactly What it Sounds Like

Published on April 19, 2023 in News by Guillaume Rivard

The all-new 2024 Ford Mustang will start to arrive at dealerships this summer, and one of its coolest gadgets is sure to amuse owners while upsetting their neighbours. We’re talking about the new Remote Rev feature allowing you to rev the engine from the comfort of your couch.

The feature is operated with the key fob and is available on 5.0-litre V8 models with an automatic transmission and 2.3-litre EcoBoost models equipped with the Ford Active Exhaust.

Once the engine has started and reached its optimal operating temperature, you can activate Remote Rev by pressing the lock and unlock buttons sequentially within three seconds. The car will respond by revving the engine to 2,000 rpm.

After that, simply repeat the operation and the engine will rev three times in a row, increasing to 3,000 rpm, then 4,000 rpm and finally 5,000 rpm, as shown in the following clip:

Ford says the Remote Rev feature can be programmed to the owner's tastes, presumably through the FordPass app. It remains on standby in case you want to remotely rev the engine again (how could you not want to?) by pressing the unlock and lock buttons once more.

We get the idea. This is great for wowing people at a car meet or even your colleagues at the office. Hopefully no one will “accidentally” press the buttons at 6 a.m. on a Saturday while the Mustang is in their driveway.

On Monday this week, the iconic pony car celebrated its 59th anniversary with Ford releasing pictures that show all 12 body colours available with the 2024 Mustang. You can find them in the photo gallery at the top of the page. Blue Ember is our favourite. What about yours?
