The Best New Car Warranties in 2023

Published on June 5, 2023 in Features and Tips by The Car Guide

Warranties offered by automakers are something any smart buyer should consider before making a purchase decision. And this goes for some used vehicles, too, because they may still be covered by the manufacturer’s initial warranty.

Which car brands lead the way in 2023? As you’ll see below, the list includes familiar names, but before we go any further, here are a few changes to know about.

First, Kia has added a 3-year/60,000km warranty on the paintwork of its vehicles. Toyota has extended the coverage of the hybrid or electric system components of its electrified models from 5 years/100,000km to 8 years/160,000 km, while Subaru has raised the mileage limit from 130,000 km to 160,000 km for the same coverage. This matches their high-voltage battery warranty.

Bad news for Buick customers: General Motors has decided to reduce the warranty of its entry-level luxury brand (previously identical to Cadillac) to the same level as Chevrolet and GMC. More specifically, comprehensive vehicle coverage and roadside assistance are now 3 years/60,000 km instead of 4 years/80,000 km, while powertrain coverage is down from 6 years/110,000 km to 5 years/100,000 km.
