Ram Rampage to Reportedly be Sold in North America

Published on June 9, 2023 in News by Guillaume Rivard

Many Ram enthusiasts have been waiting for the return of a midsize pickup since the demise of the Dakota in 2011. It now looks like their wish will finally come true.

The company this week announced the all-new Ram Rampage for South America, but sources familiar with Stellantis’ product planning have confirmed to a few media outlets, including The Drive, that the vehicle will also be sold in North America.

Given the U.S. flag incorporated into the design of the taillights, that makes sense:

Keep in mind that only a small number of pictures and a short video are available for now. An official introduction is expected to take place later this year. Camouflaged prototypes have been spied testing in Colorado recently.

By the way, the Rampage was originally an El Camino-style utility coupe built by Dodge (on Chrysler’s L platform) from 1982-1984. The brand resurrected the name in 2006 with a full-size FWD pickup concept.

Under Ram, the upcoming Rampage shares many styling cues with the larger Ram 1500. North American-spec models will obviously require some modifications, mostly to comply with our tougher safety standards. We expect more chrome and more features to be added, as well.

As mentioned above, full details will be revealed at a later date. A turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine like the one in the Jeep Wrangler (270 hp, 295 lb-ft.) is a strong candidate under the hood. The tried and true 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 is another possibility.

Earlier this week, Stellantis announced that Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis will also serve as head of Ram with Mike Koval Jr. leaving for Mopar. Big things are coming at Ram, so be sure to watch this space for more info about the Rampage and more.
