Honda Teases New Global EV Series Ahead of CES 2024

Honda today announced that an all-new global electric vehicle series will make its world debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 9. This will be one year after the premiere of the AFEELA concept developed in a partnership with Sony.

Other than a new global brand slogan (“The Power of Dreams – How we move you.”), the Japanese automaker isn’t saying anything else for now, though it posted the teaser above that partially shows a car with fancy, oversized wheels and an extremely aerodynamic body—nothing close to a production model, let alone the future mid-to-large electric SUV we’ve been promised for 2025.

Honda still aims to introduce 30 new EV models globally by 2030. That same year, 40 percent of its North American sales are expected to be zero-emission vehicles. Unfortunately, as reported in late October, Honda and General Motors no longer plan to produce "affordable" EVs together from 2027.

The Car Guide will bring you comprehensive coverage of CES 2024 including Honda’s presentation with top boss Toshihiro Mibe on hand. The event will also be livestreamed via Honda’s YouTube channel.

As for Honda’s first EV in Canada, the Prologue crossover pictured here and based on the same Ultium platform as the Chevrolet Blazer EV, pre-orders have started on honda.ca with the first deliveries slated for spring 2024. The vehicle will be available in select provinces including British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec with a base MSRP in the mid-$60,000s.

That’s not really surprising since Honda products are usually more expensive than most, but the sad part is that the Prologue won’t be eligible to the $5,000 EV rebate from the Canadian government since it will start at more than $60,000. Provincial rebates will apply, though.
