New 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Revealed in First Official Pics
As the 2024 Montreal Auto Show prepares to kick off, Honda Canada today revealed the first official pictures of the new 2025 Civic Hybrid sedan, with production beginning in Alliston, Ontario this spring.
Curiously, the car shown here is a Sport Touring model—as evidenced by the badge on the trunk lid—and not simply Sport or Touring as is the case with the Accord Hybrid. The company didn’t say whether it will be the only trim level available in Canada. For sure, our Civic Hybrid looks nicer and a bit racier than the one sold in Europe.

A distinctive feature is the honeycomb mesh grille on the front fascia, combined with a redesigned and sharper-looking lower bumper. Also, there’s a new body-coloured insert on the lower lip and another one just under the headlights.
On the sides, unique alloy wheels are included along with black mirror caps similar to those on the gas-powered Civic Sport. The only picture showing the rear end reveals no differences other than the model-specific badges. The lower part of the bumper is not shown, so we can’t see if designers did a better job of concealing the exhaust tips.
We don’t have a shot of the interior, either, but we bet it’ll be identical to that of the standard Civic except for a few minor details. Naturally, information about the hybrid system will be accessible via the driver display and centre touchscreen.
Honda expects Civic Hybrid sales to represent more than 40 percent of total Civic sales in North America. By the way, the Alliston factory has been named lead North American plant for Civic Hybrid production.
While production of the 2025 Civic Hybrid sedan will begin in the spring in Alliston, the Civic Hatchback Hybrid will be manufactured in Greensburg, Indiana starting a few weeks later. Both plants already build the CR-V Hybrid.
The Civic Hybrid will be powered by a version of Honda’s two-motor hybrid system, which was recently named by U.S. magazine Ward’s Auto as one of the 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems of 2023. In the CR-V Hybrid and Accord Hybrid, it generates a combined 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft. of torque while achieving 6.4 L/100 km and 5.3 L/100 km, respectively.
Specs for the Civic Hybrid remain unknown at this stage, but we expect efficiency to be right on par with that of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. It’ll likely be more expensive than these two, however.
Back in 2022, Honda Canada announced it would spend $1.38 billion over six years to upgrade its Alliston facilities and implement innovative technologies to enable high-volume hybrid production.
