GM to Expand Super Cruise to 1.2 Million Km of Compatible Roads
General Motors’ Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which enables hands-free driving in certain conditions, is about to expand once again.
The automaker recently announced that Super Cruise will be available on more than 1.2 million kilometres of compatible roads across North America by the end of 2025.

The system initially launched in 2017 on select Cadillac models and was limited to a small number of divided highways. In 2023, the Super Cruise network stretched to about 640,000 km of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. It will nearly double through the upcoming expansion, including a lot of minor highways connecting smaller cities.
Vehicles already equipped with Super Cruise (except for the Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XT6 and Chevrolet Bolt EUV) will receive an over-the-air software update within about one month of the GM brand site maps showing updated roads.
Super Cruise is currently offered on a large number of Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Buick vehicles, even a compact SUV like the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision. It was enhanced with several new features in recent years including automatic lane changes (all the driver needs to do is to activate the turn signal) and trailering capability (select models only).
According to GM, more than 255 million kilometres have been driven accident-free with Super Cruise so far, and over 80 percent of surveyed owners have said the system makes driving more relaxing.
