Lucid Keeps Slashing Prices as if Nobody Cared About its EV
What’s going on with Lucid? The new EV manufacturer from California built a little over 8,400 units of its Air luxury electric sedan last year but delivered only 6,000, including 220 in Canada. As a result, one more round of price cuts was announced a week ago on both sides of the border.
Up north, the base 430-horsepower Air Pure RWD model now retails from $94,500 (excluding $2,350 destination and other fees), a drop of $5,000.

Maximum range is officially rated at 674 km by Naturally Resources Canada—more than any competitor except for other Air models. About 240 km can be regained in less than 12 minutes at a DC fast charger thanks to the car being able to charge at up to 250 kW.
Standard content includes a 34-inch curved display with Lucid UX infotainment and OTA updates, heated front and rear seats, the DreamDrive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, as well as 19-inch wheels (range-limiting 20-inch wheels are optional). Oh, and Lucid continues to offer two-year complimentary charging at Electrify Canada fast chargers.
Moving up the ladder, the 620-horsepower, AWD-equipped Air Touring (661 km of range) currently starts at $105,500 instead of $126,700, while the 819-horsepower Air Grand Touring (755 km of range with the newly standard 20-inch wheels) now costs $148,500 instead of $167,600 $. Not even six months ago, these two models carried a base price of $146,000 and $210,000, respectively. Can you believe that?
Incidentally, the Performance package that boosts output to 1,050 horsepower was nowhere to be found on Lucid’s Canadian online configurator at the time of writing.
The crown jewel in the lineup remains the Air Sapphire—the one with 1,234 horsepower and 0-100 km/h sprints in just two seconds. Pricing is unchanged at $325,000.
Lucid is expected to announce pricing details for its first-ever SUV, the Gravity, later in 2024. Remember, it also promised to launch affordable entry-level vehicles to compete directly against the hugely popular Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, but not before the second half of the decade.
